Morning Star Practice - a standing guided meditation

The Morning Star Practice is a standing guided meditation focused on helping you starting your day grounded, centred and better connected to yourself through your body and breath.

Being grounded helps you level your energy and emotions.

Being centred, keeps your energy within, instead of it being dispersed.

Being connected to yourself and practising listening to your body in the way this guided meditation provides, allows you to enter a new world of communication with the messages of your body.

In this modern day life, we get lots of distractions from those around us, social media and other ways. Allowing yourself to find 12 minutes of your day to do these practices, can bring long term benefits into your life.

This guided meditation is ideally done standing. It is a way of using body language to connect to the bigger message of you standing tall and feeling empowered. The aim is for you to stand tall but relaxed.

You can also practice sitting down, but aiming at keeping a neutral hip placement, a straight spine and feet firmly on the ground.

The Morning Start Practice is composed of four parts:

Part 1: Connecting to Body and Breath

You are guided:

  • to a standing position that should result in a relaxed body

  • to notice your breath and to extend it slightly and have a longer exhalation

  • to focus on the sole of your feet and notice how the pressure spreads across them.

Part 2: Connecting to the Earth and Sky energy through the body

  • your imagination will be needed for this and the next exercise

  • Earth energy moves up bringing with it wisdom and deep anchoring of yourself in your human body

  • Sky energy moves down and brings inspiration, ideas, dreams that move through your body, helping you manifest these into your every day life.

  • you’ll be guided to move these energies through your body using your breath. Our bodies become the intermediaries of these energies where they alchemise into reality

Part 3: Practising taking space in the world

  • Using your imagination you will be guided to contract and expand your energy

  • In our daily busy lives, and in particular for us women, we often shrink ourselves in order to accommodate others. This has implications on our voice and sense of self worth.

  • We make ourselves small. It is time to practice taking up space, as women are key to making a difference in the world.

Part 4: Calling back your Energy and Power

  • you’ll be repeating an intention and command out loud

  • calling your energy and power back into yourself

  • when your attention is focused on other people or you keep thinking about the same situation over and over, your energy goes where your attention goes

  • practising calling your energy and power from draining situations will help you increase your energy levels to focus on the things that are important to you

We end the Practice with a moment to thank ourselves for showing up to the practice and to ourselves. I think it important to find these moments of acknowledging our choices of kindness towards ourselves by doing daily practises such as the Morning Star Practise.

The more you keep this practice daily, the more benefits you will receive.
