'Shallow'
I started watching ‘A Star is Born’ the other day. I haven’t even finished watching the whole movie and the song ‘Shallow’ keeps coming to my head. I looked at the lyrics and they spoke to me and they spoke to what I offer in my Women’s Empowerment Coaching sessions.
So much so, that here I am writing about this song.
The shallow end for me, is the life that is filled with material goods and comfort. There is nothing wrong with having these, they stand for the foundation of us humans feeling safe in the world. Yet, when we have everything but still do not feel happy; when we have everything but keep searching for more; when we have everything and just want more to fill a void, this is when the shallow no longer serves us. This is when we start longing for change as much as fearing it.
I work at the deep end, not the shallow. If you are longing for change and feel brave enough to just take that first step out of shallow waters, get in touch. It all starts with a conversation, we find out if we are a good fit for each other. Here is my email: pelagiapais@gmail.com.
Below are the lyrics to the song, and here is a link to the music:
I suggest you lie down, put the music in your ears just loud enough and allow for your whole being to be immersed in it.
May it inspire you and your next steps, whichever they may be.
‘Shallow’ Lyrics
‘Tell me somethin', girl
Are you happy in this modern world?
Or do you need more?
Is there somethin' else you're searchin' for?
I'm falling
In all the good times I find myself
Longin' for change
And in the bad times I fear myself
Tell me something, boy
Aren't you tired tryin' to fill that void?
Or do you need more?
Ain't it hard keeping it so hardcore?
I'm falling
In all the good times I find myself
Longing for change
And in the bad times I fear myself
I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in
I'll never meet the ground
Crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us
We're far from the shallow now
In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
We're far from the shallow now
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoah!
I'm off the deep end, watch as I dive in
I'll never meet the ground
Crash through the surface, where they can't hurt us
We're far from the shallow now
In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
In the shallow, shallow
We're far from the shallow now’
